Put up your thinking caps to decide the difference between the solution, good solution and best solution. The challenge is not just to solve the live problem but to prove that your solution is better than the rest where innovation and implementation is beyond the idealistic concept of text books.

Forum for to showcase your mettle in the field of Analytics, Great Lakes, Chennai presents to you an exclusive Data Analytics event.

Here is your chance to show your mettle in a battle of numbers, prediction and accuracy.

Rules

  • A maximum of 2 members can form a team.
  • This event is open to only students in India. Working professional who are currently undergoing part time MBA/PGDM can also participate in the event.
  • Teams are required to register on the Analytics Vidhya’s portal.
  • A participant can be a part of only one team.
  • Multiple teams can participate from one college.
  • The team members may be from different years in their course.
  • Please adhere to the deadlines given, requests for extensions and late entries will not be entertained.
  • In case of any dispute, decision of the Analytics Vidhya organizing team shall be final.
  • The format and structure of events are subject to change before the actual beginning of the event.
  • The maximum travel reimbursement per member from a team (Round 2 – finalist) will be Rs. 3,000 or the ticket fare (two-way), whichever is minimum on submission of appropriate ticket proofs.

Event Details:

Round 1 (Machine Learning Round)

Round 1 is scheduled to begin on 8th January 2018. The first round of the competition would be a machine learning competition. Participants can use Excel/R/Python or any other tool for modelling for solving the problem.

  • Submissions on the designated portal to be made before: 11:59 PM IST, 15th January 2017.
  • The Private leader board for first Round would be displayed on the Analytics Vidhya website by 10 AM on 16th January 2017.
  • Round 1 shortlists to be announced before 17th January 2017.

Top 20 teams in the private leader board will have to submit document explaining their solution before 11:59 PM IST, 20th January 2017.

Round 2 (On-campus Presentation Round)

Selected teams from Round 1 will get a chance to come to Great Lakes, Chennai and present their solution to the panel of Judges.

The guidelines for the final round (Round 2) shall be communicated to you upon the end of the first round.

The maximum travel reimbursement for a team member will be Rs. 3,000 or the ticket fare, whichever is minimum on submission of appropriate ticket proofs.

Prizes:

Rs. 20,000 (First prize), Rs. 10,000 (Second Prize), Rs. 5,000 (Third Prize)

  1. Who is a student?
    Any one undergoing a course from a recognised university or college will be considered as a student.

  2. I am undergoing a part time course, will I be considered as student?
    Yes

  3. I am a student, but I am unable to register for this hackathon?
    First, create a profile on Analytics Vidhya (SignUp) and then register yourself as a Student here.

  4. What do you need in a Photo id?
    A photo id is an identification issued by your college / university acknowledging that you are a student. The id would typically have your roll number, start date and end date

  5. How long will it take to be verified as a student?
    We will do it with in a couple of days. Normally, it is faster than that.

Participants benefit from one-on-one feedback, publication on a respected platform, recognition from a global audience, and monetary rewards for each published article. Additionally, the top articles receive special rewards.

Each article must be original, and pass plagiarism and not AI generated content checks. You can submit multiple articles as long as each is distinct. Proper citation of all references and image sources is mandatory.

There are no specific requirements to register for the hackathon, although it is recommended to have some basic knowledge of the relevant topics, such as Data Science, Machine Learning, or Deep Learning, along with proficiency in a coding language, preferably Python.

In the Blogathon, an article typically explores a specific topic or idea within Data Science or Generative AI and is required to be at least 1000 words long. A guide, on the other hand, is a more comprehensive resource, covering all aspects of a particular subject in data science, and must be at least 2500 words long. Guides aim to serve as a one-stop resource, providing detailed insights and practical applications, whereas articles might focus on narrower or more specific topics.

Depending on the type of competition, you can participate individually or in a team.

Multiple submissions of the same article are prohibited and could lead to disqualification. Articles failing to meet the required length, originality, or citation standards will be rejected.

AVCC is a community for authors who have had three or more articles published in the Blogathons. Members benefit from monetary rewards for each published article and get the opportunity to showcase their work to a larger audience.
