Retrieval is the first step of product search, which brings in a subset of relevant items from millions of items. Retrieval system needs to be fast and precise. Retrieval system can be lexical, symantical or hybrid.
We would focus on semantic retrieval using bi-encoder and cross-encoder. We would discuss the weakness and challenges of having semantic retrieval.

Since then, He has worked at Walmart, VMware and in startups designing and deploying machine learning solutions in Ecommerce (Search & Recommendations) and Social Media Marketing.
