Job description:
This position will be responsible for architecting and developing pieces of enterprise applications, for the Hadoop ecosystem at Caterpillar. This position will require significant collaboration with internal Caterpillar organizations as well as the business partner so effective interpersonal skills are required.
Responsibilities
- Working directly on application / technical problem identification and resolution, including off-shift and weekend support functions
- Participating in integrated testing and user acceptance of application or infrastructure components
- Working with vendors on the integration of purchased application(s) and/or infrastructure
- Designing and implementing processes, or process improvements, to aid in development and support
Qualification and Skills Required
- Strong on core Java server-side programming
- Strong experience in architecting Hadoop ecosystem components as per requirements
- Strong development skills around Hadoop, Hive, Pig, HBase, Map Reduce and Web Services
- Knowledge and proven experience on Object-oriented design, SOA, distributed computing
- Experience with working in an Agile/SCRUM model
- Strong Background in Data warehousing principles, architecture and its implementation in large multi-terabyte environments
- Core Competencies:
- Strong customer service skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment and stay motivated and flexible
- Ability to work cross functionally to resolve technical, procedural, and operational issues
- MS/BS degree in Computer Science, r elated technical field, or equivalent work experience.
